Vacation to Southern California

Matt | July 15, 2009

It’s been over a month since we posted an update on here and there is a great reason for it. You know that saying, “If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything at all”…? The Mallorys had a rough May/June thanks to constant ear infections ending in Jacob getting tubes and then a head cold that lingered for weeks. So we chose to stay away from the negative and not post updates on our frustrations.

Well we are in a new month and Jacob is a new boy! The tubes have cleared up all of his issues and we are thrilled to post a happy update. We spent the Fourth of July in Southern California with our friends Grant and Heather and Grant’s parents Wayne and Elaine. Read the rest of this entry »

Matt’s 30th Birthday Weekend

Matt | May 26, 2009

Jennifer went all out for me this weekend for my 30th birthday. It started Saturday with a professional bass fisherman trip on the Delta for largemouth bass. Grant joined me for the trip and we got into some big fish. I had the time of my life out there. Sunday we had fun on Folsom Lake with Grant and Heather and then came home for a family birthday dinner where Jennifer and mom prepared my favorite dinner… cheese stuffed shells. To wrap it all up we headed to the Giants vs. Braves game at AT&T park in San Francisco with our closest friends. The weather was great, the Giants won… what could be better?! Crazy Weekend!

Matt | September 3, 2008

The Mallorys had a very eventful weekend!  We started the weekend off with my buddy EJ’s birthday on Friday night.  It was a surprise and his wife arranged for his friends to drop by for dinner.  We played Scattegories and had a great time laughing at our absurd answers.

The next day we dropped Jacob off at the Wixoms and took my mom out to Napa Valley aboard the wine train.  We enjoyed some great wine and really good food (mom had the salmon, Jennifer and I had the best beef tenderloin I’ve ever had!).  The train left the station at 11:30 and cruised at a leisurely 17mph to St. Helena where it stopped for twenty minutes or so before turning back around. On the way back to the station we had dessert and various dessert wines.  It was great to get out with my mom and share some conversation about life without all of the distractions.

After the wine train we picked Jacob up, dropped my mom off back home and rushed over to the Parish’s for their son’s three-year birthday party.  It was surfer themed and they created a water park in their backyard.  The cake looked like a huge wave, too!  Jill is always so creative with family events.  It seemed like there were more kids there than adults and Jacob quickly became irritated with all the noise.  We took him in the backyard and he fell asleep in my arms.  The poor guy had been to a birthday party earlier in the day with the Wixoms and had enough at this point.

The next day we relaxed early in the day and ran errands.  We then hosted our friends for a Labor Day BBQ and played some Scattegories.  Jacob looked adorable in his “This is How I Roll” onesie that Uncle Tuna got him and his “Skate or Cry” hat that our friends in SoCal got him.  We got some great pictures of Jacob and his hat.

Monday was a low-key regroup day.  After everything Jacob had been through he was noticeably more fussy and just needed some calm home time before starting day-care on Tuesday, but that’s for another post.

Jacob’s Play-Day with Adam

Matt | June 22, 2008

Michelle and Adam stopped by this week to hang out.  Jacob and Adam are four days apart and will basically grow up as brothers barring an unlikely move by us or the Wixoms.  Jennifer first put them right next to each other until Adam accidentally landed a spinning backfist.  She then realized it’s not good to put two little flailing two month old boys within arms reach.  They laid on their backs and coo’d at each other and touched hands.  Here are some pics of their first time together where they could actually recognize there was another baby to play with.

We Love You, Adam!

Matt | April 16, 2008

We were lucky enough to meet baby Adam yesterday. Our great friends Todd and Michelle had their baby boy yesterday afternoon. He is a beautiful, healthy baby and both he and his parents are doing great. Here are a couple pics of us with baby Adam.

Now we need to get Jacob out in the world so Adam has a buddy to play with!

Back From New York City

Matt | November 26, 2006

Jennifer and I just got back from NYC last night. Jennifer had been to NY before, but this was my first time in the city. We went with our good friends, Grant and Heather. It gave me a new perspective on how small Sacramento is. We did so much in four full days and had an amazing time. I’ll put up a day by day, but I’m too lazy now. Until then, enjoy our photos from the trip!

  • Matt I just submitted a request to Service Magic for an electrician to install a chandelier for us. Does anybody have a licensed electrician referral? The ceiling is about 22ft high and we need to move the chandelier a couple feet. March 6, 2010

  • Jennifer JD has been working on counting over the past month. He would say, "One, two, Fiiiiiive." No 3 or 4. Tonight, out of nowhere he counted to 4 all by himself. I feel proud of him as his Mommy, but so sad at the same time when I see my baby growing up soooooo fast. March 11, 2010
