Jacob’s First Haircut
Matt | May 3, 2009We took Jacob to get his first haircut today. There is a small shop called EJ’s Little People in Old Fair Oaks that is well known as THE PLACE to get your kids’ first haircut. We got there to find the place is an absolute dump. The front window is riddled with BB holes, the ceiling has multiple water damage spots, one of the windows on the side is boarded up and there is ripped wallpaper throughout. I don’t know if it has changed ownership, but the place is definitely not the glorious first haircut destination people talk about. We were already out there and Jacob was in good spirits so we decided to get his hair cut there anyway. One neat thing they do is give you a certificate with a before/after photo and a lock of his hair. Here are photos of JD’s first haircut.

That place was awesome… when I was little. Now it is quite the dump, I agree.
Next time go to Lollipop Cuts for Kids Too. It’s in Granite Bay so a little bit of a trek for you guys, but it’s a super fun place. The kids sit in a truck (or car or motorcycle or whatever they pick) to get their hair cut and there is a whole toy area for them to play in. They can watch cartoons or a movie (or play video games) while they get their hair cut. Connor loves it.
Auntie Homey, your comment name is hilarious. Before you get a smug smile on your face because you’re so clever… think about this. How sad will it be at JD’s wedding when we have a photo collage celebrating all the important people in his life and auntie “photo free” homey is nowhere to be seen? I’m just saying.
Thanks for the tip on Lollipop. That sounds more like what I was expecting. There is a place like that in Roseville, too. I’m going to be sure to spread the word about EJ’s because people wouldn’t recommend it if they knew what it looks like now.
There will be no need for me to be in some silly little photo collage- I’ll be officiating the ceremony. Everyone will know who I am.
