My AT&T U-Verse Install… Or Not

Frayed Coax CableI completely goofed on my U-verse install date and got a confirmation on Thursday evening for a Saturday installation. I thought I scheduled it for Friday and I planned on going to the Sportmen’s Expo Saturday. Oh well, go with the flow. The installation was scheduled to start between 8am and 10am and the tech arrived around 8:30am. I was surprised to see only one tech, a nice guy by the name of Josh. Josh said it was normal to only have one tech out on installs, but I’m still not so sure. I showed him the layout of the house and where we want the receivers and talked about an additional coax drop we have to do into the office. After Josh was familiar with the plans he drove off to the local “box,” which I assume is the new VRAD systems AT&T is installing. After about an hour and a half I was suspicious things aren’t going well.

Jennifer is traveling a few hours away to a baby shower and I got a call from her around 10:30am. She said AT&T has been trying to call me, but I didn’t receive any calls. She gave me Josh’s number and I called him back. He said he was down at the box and it looked like it was under construction. He said the box is up on an A frame so he was calling a construction crew to see what he could do to continue the installation.

It’s now 11:35am and I just got a call back from Josh letting me know the box is out of commission and they’re expecting to fix it this week. I know which one he’s talking about so my only choice is to call AT&T and let them know how frustrated I am to take another Saturday off and keep an eye on the box to see when they patch it up. Needless to say I’m pretty irritated right now and hopefully they can do something to make up for my time (free HD/year?)
