Our good friend (and my wife’s twin) Julie Dey hooked us up with sneak preview passes for Transformers along with a really cool hat.
One Word….WOW!
If you know anything about the series then you know the Transformers needed a lot of tweaking to bring them into the 21st century. Like other resurrected series, it’s a very difficult balancing act to update old characters, but not piss off the loyal fans. Transformers balanced this difficult feat like a trapeze artist. Optimus Prime was the Autobot closest to his original form.. and rightfully so.
Don’t expect to see a stupid, cheezy kids movie. This film has the most amazing special effects I’ve seen in any film. The robot vs. robot fight scenes are absolutely mindblowing and the opening scene of the movie sets the pace for an action packed thriller. Sure, there are some corny lines and underdeveloped characters, but this is expected and the corny lines provide great comedy relief. I will probably see this again in the theaters because this is one movie that shines on the big screen and I don’t think the entire experience will transfer to a simple home theater setup.
I apologize for the lack of detail, but I wanted this review to be spoiler free. All I can say is that if you’re a fan of Transformers, special effects, Megan Fox, or all of the above, this film must be seen in the theater.
