Like a good husband I placed an order for a beautiful bouquet of 18 long stemmed roses from 1800flowers.com. I placed the order on Sunday. I admit I procrastinated slightly, but three days notice wasn’t an issue according to the website. Usually when I order flowers online the store contracts with a local florist to make the arrangement and deliver the flowers. This time 1800flowers.com shipped the arrangement via FedEx overnight on the 13th. Again, shouldn’t be an issue because it was overnighted, right?
Well, I waited all day to get the happy call from Jennifer saying how beautiful the flowers are, how much everybody fawned over them, etc. The call never came and I finally asked her on her way home from work. When she said she never received them I was furious. I tried to call 1800flowers.com over ten times and was unable to get ahold of anybody. I got one of two outcomes when I called them, I received a busy signal (what?) or a pre-recorded message came on that said all of their staff is busy and then it hung up. I wasn’t even placed on hold for the next representative! Needless to say I will never buy from 1800flowers.com again because if they can’t come through on the most important floral day of the year, what good are they?
UPDATE: Maybe I’m wrong to blame 1800flowers.com on this one… it very well could be FedEx that dropped the ball. They have the package in their tracking system, but no transit activity.
UPDATE 2: It was definitely 1800flowers.com that ruined Valentine’s Day. FedEx only received the electronic notice that a label was printed, they never received a package. I’ve tried to contact 1800flowers.com over 40 times today without any luck.
